After acquiring 45 sheep fleeces from a lady in town Jed machine washed them to remove the lanolin and poop. So the machine was filled with the hottest water possible and 1 C of palm olive dish soap. Next time we will harvest the lanolin that comes off the wool and we will make our own soap rather than use palm olive soap. Anyways the fleece was submerged and soaked for 20 minutes. Then it was rinsed and spun. Sometimes more soap (1/4 C) was added at this point and rinsed then spun. From here the machine was loaded with water again and some borax was added. The fleece was soaked (but not rinsed) before spinning.
